A few weeks ago, Nadine had a fabulous idea to create a linkup to help get to know the ALL the women of the Influence Network. We want to meet and build community with our influential women. Some of you may be coming to the Influence Conference this September, so we have six months to interact before meeting in person! I love that.
To participate, you must be (or become!) a member of the Influence Network.
Once you link your post, visit the blog of the person before you, and leave some kindness in the comments.
In your post, include the following things:
A photo of yourself that you love. We want to put a face with a name!
Three get-to-know-me things. Deep, quirky, fun - you pick.
One valuable thing you've gained from the Network.
One photo I love:
I had the hardest time finding a current photo of myself alone. Somehow my little girl sneaks into every shot. Not to mention in the past year and a half, all my photos are either of pregnant-me, postpartum-me, or me-sans-bangs. So, I like that this one shows me. right. now.
Three things you should know about me:
1. I love my library card. It may be my favorite thing in my wallet. My favorite books include Pride & Prejudice, Mere Christianity, and the Harry Potter series. I read them again and again and again, without tiring.
2. I married my high school sweetheart. He knows me better than anyone, because we've been together for thirteen years. We literally grew up side by side.
3. I could have had a job as a pro-organizer and purger. I gain so much energy when I get to simplify a part of our home. (In real life - I used my biology degree to teach high school for five years and now stay home with our daughter.)
One thing the Network has given me:
Community. Instead of sending my posts out into the internet void, where I picture some random weirdos reading about my heart, now I see your sweet, lovely faces.
p.s. I have a giveaway going on right now! If you've been meaning to print your instagram photos, click here to enter.

Library cards are the BEST. I left a fantastic library in the city I lived in my last year of college. Thankfully we have a good one back in my hometown as well!
ReplyDeleteAs a kid, our closest library looked like a castle. It was incredible. Our neighborhood library today is pretty boring by comparison, but it still does the job :)
DeleteI have a library card + would love to utilize my current town's beautiful new library. unfortunately they moved from one space, taking up two small rooms, to a brand new, large facility, and still don't have many books to fill it. they get new ones in all the time, I'm sure, but with a baby + the freezing cold weather of nova scotia ... well it's not a pleasant walk :)
ReplyDeleteI married my high school sweetheart as well, and love organizing so much my husband makes fun of me for it. he says he has no idea how to find anything on our hard drive -- and then he actually looks. it takes him mere seconds to find anything, because it's all so well categorized. BAM.
Courtney - girl, we have loads in common. Love it. I like walking to our library when it is warmer outside, too. Ours is only about 8 blocks from our house, so it is perfect!
DeleteThis reminds me, my library card just expired! I better get on that.
ReplyDeleteThat picture of you is perfect! You have gorgeous red hair :)
Thanks, Courtney! My hair is actually brunette, but the instagram filter I like is making it look red. I didn't even notice it, until your comment :)
DeleteWhat!?! I thought you must have dyed it. I must now apply an instagram filter to my own photo to see what I look like as a red head!
DeleteI taught high school before having my babies too! I'm actually glad those days are over. Do you miss it?
ReplyDeleteI do - but I am loving this stage of life at home. There is a lot of DRAMA working with high schoolers everyday. It does make for some good stories though!
DeleteI love reading -- in our family we love Harry Potter. My husband and I were also high school sweethearts, the best, huh?!!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely. I still can't believe how young we were when we started dating though. Pretty crazy.
DeleteOh where do you live? I need someone to purge my home, we are probably moving this summer right after having our 5th baby!! Seriously any tips? I was going to go room to room with a two boxes, one a give away and one a pack away early. Love the link up!!!
ReplyDeleteWill you please come organize my life?! I'm such a disorganized mess sometimes.
ReplyDeleteLoved reading a little more about you and I'm so thankful for your sweet self.
Thankful for you, sweet friend!
DeleteThanks so much for hosting - LOVE this linkup and meeting more fabulous women! I love the library too, wish I had more time to read, but with a 5-month-old right now most of my reading is done with books on my iphone if she happens to be taken a nap on me :-)
ReplyDeletei could totally use organizing tips! my home never seems to be in order!
ReplyDeleteLindsey I am stuck in the third HP book and struggling to finish, thanks to school and a toddler. I must get through the series. I want to be able to re-read them! lol
ReplyDeleteI am going to stalk your blog now in hopes of finding organizing tips. Our teeny apartment is cluttered, and we are house-hunting (praise Him).. I refuse to take more than we need, and kind of want to live in peace for once haha
so nice to meet you!
Ok, girls - I hear you. I think some organizing posts can be in the works for spring-cleaning :)
DeleteI'm not sure I could have a job as a pro-organizer...but I could definitely be a pro-purger :) I love going through stuff and simplifying!
ReplyDeleteFirst - Thank you so much for hosting this wonderful opportunity!
ReplyDeleteSecond - I too am a purger - I get such a rush out of throwing stuff out or giving it away!
So glad to meet you !!
I'm also a fan of organizing & purging and dream about whether I can make that my full time job
ReplyDeleteEven though I'm not participating in this link-up (not a member of the Influence Network...yet), I love getting to know women I may get to meet in September, especially you!
Meaggs - we are going to have some more linkups after we start selling conference tickets. be on the lookout for them :) thanks for your sweet words!
DeleteI love getting to know more about you! Thanks for helping facilitate this link-up and all the Network happenings. Blogging in community like this is such a joy.
ReplyDeleteI agree - it is totally MY joy to facilitate.
Deletegirl. I can read Harry Potter over and over. Let's be best friends!
ReplyDeleteTotally with you on the library card love! My mom was a librarian, so libraries are my happy place. And. this cracked me up - "Instead of sending my posts out into the internet void, where I picture some random weirdos reading about my heart..." - LOL. Yay for community!
ReplyDeleteHi Lindsey! I'm Molly and I'm part of the network too. I haven't had much time to explore the site yet but I'm hoping it happens soon. I hope to meet you in September.
ReplyDeleteHey Lindsey! Are you a redhead? Your hair looks red in your photo but I can't tell if it's the filter :) Either way, you are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI think it's really sweet that you and your husband are high school sweethearts and have known each other so long!
Blessings!!
hey erin - It is the filter, I'm really a brunette. :)
DeleteIt's very nice to meet you! I need to spend more time on the Forum. I get on and I get lost and don't know where to begin. But it seems like a wonderful place to be!
ReplyDeletemichele - I think forums are kind of like that. give yourself 15 minutes, and read about something that peaks your interest and then come back another time and stumble upon something else. it is fun that way!
DeleteLOVE your bangs! They look awesome :) I love meeting new people through the Influence Network. Excited to follow along with you!
ReplyDeleteSo awesome friend. Love your heart! Love my library card too. Books are so inspiring!
ReplyDeleteI don't just love our library card, I ADORE it! Our library system has so much more to offer than books and story times! We've got a presidential library, admission to museums, and twice a year they host a clothing swap for kids! This link up has been so much fun!
ReplyDeleteA clothing swap and admission to museums?! Amazing.
DeleteDId you read about the library in NY that lends out an American Girl doll? I love when libraries are just crazy cool.
Any time you want to give your organizing skills some more opportunity to grow and flourish, you are welcome to come and manage my daughter's toys.
ReplyDeleteThank you ;)
I have been meaning to say hi for so long! Shame on me for not doing so on the forums before now. I love your blog and your enthusiasm for this beautiful community! Nice to "meet" you!
ReplyDelete~Bri~
yay! i'm so excited you are going to be at influence this fall too! can't wait to meet you :) and talk about organization.. i LOVE it. i feel like i might be a little obsessed - but it feels so good! great to 'meet' you and i look forward to getting to know you even more! :)
ReplyDeleteI love going to the library too, I always seem to pick up classics too ;) I am married to my high school sweetheart. .Loving it.
ReplyDeleteLook forward to getting to know you more !
So my husband is a professor, and I have about 15 books that I checked out in November and haven't returned them. I renew them each month, but my husband could check them out indefinitely because he's a professor and then I wouldn't have to keep remembering to renew. Is that cheating? Ha!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for everything you do for the Influence Network! Praise Jesus!
Amanda - I used to be able to do that when I was a teacher. I could check books out for almost the entire school year! It was such a perk :)
DeleteI hear ya on the purging!! I adore getting rid of things and clearing out the clutter!!! :)
ReplyDeleteI love this picture of you. it's real and i love that. all to often we find the "best" photo to show off. i am looking forward to meeting you in sept.
ReplyDeleteoh, september can't come quick enough! it is seriously the social event of my year :)
DeleteI am so grateful for the community Influence Network has provided. It is such a blessing, and I know God is going to do great things through it!
ReplyDeleteHi there!! Thank you for the greatest compliment EVER on my blog this morning! I love what you had to say about the network, I couldn't agree more. It makes the big world of blogging seem small and lovely.
ReplyDeleteUm, so, I love that photo. A lot. Especially your top. It's lovely.
ReplyDeleteAND I am pretty sure that I need you in my real life, to help me organize my house! I always feel like I can organize everything but my own home. I did a massive clean-up of my apartment on the weekend which was helpful, but still - when are you coming over?
Lindsey, you are so sweet! I love reading your posts because it always feels like I've just been talking with a friend. I'm glad I found your blog through Influence! And you have excellent taste in books--those are all some of my favorites :)
ReplyDeleteI re-read books over and over as well (Harry Potter series included) AND I'm also a huge purger. I love to get rid of stuff. Simplify. I see you all over the network/blog/site so its so nice to know more about you!
ReplyDeleteLindsey,
ReplyDeleteI, too, had a difficult time finding my picture for this link-up, because I have been pregnant for the better part of two years (babies 16 months apart), and even now I'm only three months post-partum. I have a beautiful pregnant picture from this last pregnancy, but it includes my husband and son in it, and I feel weird posting it because it feels like a family picture... except my new daughter isn't in it.
I hear you on the organizing thing! I am not a particularly brilliant organizer myself, but I get a lot of energy and satisfaction from creating order, whatever the context.
Thanks for all you do for the Influence Network!
I have my library card in my wallet where I can get it easily. Must be a History lover thing. Thanks for the comment as well, it meant a lot! :)
ReplyDeleteLindsey, I love that you have a biology degree. I have a chemistry degree and taught for 5 years also before coming home to stay with my daughter.
ReplyDeleteI love organizing and purging stuff! I always feel better afterwards like I've actually accomplished something. :)
ReplyDeleteI wanted to thank you for the sweet comment you left on my blog-it meant a lot to me.
I'm taking your introverts class later this month and am looking forward to learning from you!
I'm so glad you'll be in the class! It has been a huge relief to hear that some of the bloggers I "know" will be in the class. It doesn't feel so intimidating that way. Love you, friend.
DeleteThank for hosting this link-up! I'm really hoping to take your class this month! Also, always good to find another Harry Potter fan! It defines my childhood!
ReplyDeleteI'd love for you to take the class! Glad you stopped by, Merrill.
DeleteLibrary love all the way!! The library here in Pitt is amazeballs. So old school and east coast, nothing like I had growing up in CO. I love love love it!
ReplyDeleteThank you again for hosting/organizing this link up! I finally started combing through that list... :)
xoxo J
I love organizing and purging stuff, too! It actually got me into a little bit of trouble last week. I asked Joe if I could list some furniture on Craigslist that I knew we wouldn't want to bring with us when we move someday. He said, "yes" and I went a little listing crazy. Didn't think we needed the love seat in the kid's nursery anymore, but failed to realize that we'd no longer have seating space in our basement! Hubs wasn't happy about that one. haha
ReplyDeleteHa. Too funny. I would be the same way, and Zach acts more like we lived during the depression and MUST keep everything "just in case."
DeleteI'm actually looking forward to moving someday, just because I can go through the whole house and clean out everything.
So great to meet you Lindsey!! :) AMEN to the post-partum picture probs. Haha! And I JUST got bangs too! So weird, I feel like we could laugh at our similarities right now. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm really glad I found your blog through this link-up. I have seen your face on the forums. So it's great to find out more about you! :)
It is really great to meet you! I'm just rediscovering the beauty of the library. Looking forward to reading more posts!

Totally wish I had more time to use my library card!! Also admire that you can read the same book more than once. Never been able to do that!
ReplyDeleteMet my husband when we were 14... high school sweethearts here too. I love my library card too - so much so that when my son dismantled my wallet - it was the first thing I searched for! One of my favorite things to do is explore new libraries. I visit them when we are in new place - libraries and groceries. I even visited them when we were out of the country.
ReplyDeleteLove that I stubbled over here from Influence. :)
